11. National Income article due Wednesday March 4. Find a recent article illustrating something that will affect aggregate demand. Anything that affects an element of total spending-- consumption, investment, government, exports, imports-- will affect aggregate demand. Explain the impact on Aggregate Demand. Show the effect on an AD-AS graph. Explain what happens to Income and Price levels.

8. International Price Comparisons (due Wednesday Feb 18). Compare US prices to Dominican prices, for a variety of consumer goods. [the list of Dominican prices is available online.] You then need to convert prices to a common currency. For example, coffee in Santo Domingo sold for 29.95 pesos. In US dollars this would be 29.95 pesos/ 14 pesos per dollar = $2.14 US.

3. Create a Price Index. (due Wednesday Jan. 28) Choose a market basket of 5 (or more) products. Specify a quantity for each. Find the actual price for these products. Calculate the total cost of buying these products.
2. financial portfolio (due Wednesday Jan 21) Create a portfolio of financial instruments worth $100,000. You can put this money into any combination of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, currencies, or other securities. You should specify the financial goal of this investment (eg. retirement savings, short-run speculation, etc) and discuss the risks involved with your portfolio.
