Maps:
Several site convert street addresses to local area maps, including: Yahoo map site , Delorme (of Atlas & Gazetteer fame), and Autopilot .

A big collection of country maps can be found at University of Texas.

Or visit the USGS for geographic information. The USGS Geographic Names Information System searches for particular locations in the United States and Territories.

National Geographic maps are famous (but the online versions seem less detailed).

Color Landform Atlas of the United States-- nice state maps and satellite images.

Vegetation and Plant Distribution Maps, part of Stanford's Branner Library map collection

Microsoft's Terraserver has a database of satellite photos. It's incomplete and a bit bloated, but an interesting concept.

Nature and Wildlife Photography:

Galen Rowell's gallery is full of beautiful mountain images.

Some classic black & whites from Ansel Adams are for sale at the Ansel Adams Gallery and the Ansel Adams poster gallery. More Ansel Adams.

Read a great article from the Atlantic Monthly on the ethics of manipulating photos "Photography in the Age of Falsification".

Art Wolfe has some nice photos (but the site requests lots of cookies). See the article listed above for a discussion of Wolfe's book, "Migrations".

Kodak has lots of tips on photography

Escaping to Nature has tips on nature photography

Photo.net has equipment reviews, suggestions on what to buy and where to buy it, photo essays, and more: the most useful online photography resource I've found.

New York Institute of Photography has a monthly online magazine with useful photo tips.
